1. The lighthouse :

The lighthouse located in Andros, is certainly one of the most important sights on the island. It has been illuminating for more than 120 years and provides safety to all ships. This impressive structure is literally in the sea, perched on a rock, creating a truly magnificent sight. It has a height of 7 meters and a focal height of 36 meters and it is visible at a very long distance of up to 11 nautical miles, showing its light every day. Tourlitis was built at a time when the island had already become an important center of Greek shipping. It contributed significantly to its further prosperity. During World War II, Tourlitis was destroyed due to bombing. This tragic war, apart from death and poverty, caused the destruction of the lighthouse of Andros, which for many years illuminated the Aegean and the “soul” of the Cyclades. The Tourlite was not restored until 1994.The Goulandris family, one of the most prominent families on the island, financed its reconstruction. The lighthouse of Andros was raised again, after almost 60 years. In fact, with its reconstruction, it also became the first automated lighthouse in Greece. The existence of a guard was therefore no longer necessary for its operation

After the Greek Revolution, many refugees from the surrounding islands arrived in Andros. Refugees from Psara, relocated to Andros. In Andros, they generously gave their knowledge and experience. As a result, Andros quickly became a powerful center, along with the decline of other traditional centers of Greek shipping, such as Galaxidi and Hydra. The Andriots very quickly managed to become rich and well known as merchants and captains throughout Central and Eastern Europe.

The Bridge of Love in Andros became famous in recent years due to the movie of the same name "Little England". The Bridge of Love is located among the green cypress trees, the wonderful waters and in the wonderful nature of the mansion island of Andros. It is a place hidden, protected from the outside world, as a love often remains hidden, to protect itself from the malice and jealousy of our society. A wonderful path, surrounded by picturesque, traditional houses unfolds before you, on your way to the Bridge of Love. Tall, green trees, olives, cypresses and figs will accompany you until you reach your destination. The whole route is enchanting and you will feel like you are in a Greek fairy tale. The entire path has painted arrows showing where the Little England Bridge is, so you won't have any trouble finding it, but you won't get lost either. These beautiful painted arrows are reminiscent of the arrows of love, the arrows that "hit" people as soon as they meet their other half. At the end of the route you will find the beautiful Bridge of Love in Andros. The bridge where the love of Orsa and Spyros came to life. The place where they shared their first kiss and this secret love began, protected by the wonderful nature of Andros, away from all those who wished the couple harm. However, as the little bridge is the island's newest attraction – thanks to the movie – don't be surprised that many older locals don't know it as the 'Bridge of Love'. Be that as it may, its access is very easy and its route is enchanting.
